Thank you for contacting me regarding S. 515, the Downed Animal Protection Act. I appreciate hearing your views on this issue.
As you know, S. 515 would make it unlawful for any stockyard owner, market agency, or dealer to buy, sell, give, receive, transfer, market, hold or drag any nonambulatory livestock unless such livestock has been many [sic] humanely euthanized.
S. 515 has been referred to the Committee on Agriculture. Although I am not a member of this Committee, I will keep your thoughts in mind should S. 515 or any similar legislation come before the full Senate.
Again, thank you for contacting me. Should you have further questions or comments on this or any other issue, please do not hesitate to write.
Very respectfully yours,
United States Senator
